Individual sessions are a form of psychological and psychotherapeutic support where a psychologist or psychotherapist works with a person one-on-one. Typically, these meetings occur once a week and last 1-1.5 hours. Everything that happens during the session is confidential and takes place exclusively in the "therapist-client" dynamic. Therapy is usually a rather lengthy process, which allows for gradually building an atmosphere of trust and sharing the most difficult and intimate moments of life. It is precisely confidentiality, trust, and cooperation between the client and therapist that form the foundation for change and solving complex life issues in individual psychotherapy.
Individual sessions with a therapist are a journey aimed at meeting yourself. Sometimes this path may feel "unknown" and scary, but the therapist walks it alongside the person, helping them understand the causes and consequences of certain actions, behaviors, reactions, experiences, worries, and fears. The therapist helps find support and resources to move forward, leave behind what hinders them, and find the path they want to move forward.
Advantages of individual therapy:
- It’s easier to trust one person than a group.
- The therapist’s full attention is focused on the issues of one client.
- The opportunity to discuss topics that cannot be shared with others.
- Flexibility in adjusting meeting times.
- The ability to move at your own pace.
Individual therapy is a powerful and effective tool for support, but sometimes there are issues and situations better suited for group therapy.
